ALEX KATZ (B. 1927) Ada Four Times the complete set of four lithograph and screenprints in colors, on Arches Cover paper, 1979-80, each signed in pencil and numbered 21/120 (there were also 25 artist's proof sets), published by GHJ Graphics, Inc., New York, each the full sheet, in generally good condition, framed Each Sheet: 30 x 22 1 ⁄ 2 in. (762 x 571 mm.)
Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Ada Four Times by Alex Katz was auctioned at Christies in New York in November this year. It changed hands for a price of USD 6,930 (€ 6,057) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 5,000 - 7,000. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alex Katz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blue Umbrella I in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 3,375,000 (€ 3,914,758).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Ada Four Times von Alex Katz kam im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 6.930 (€ 6.057) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000 – 7.000. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.375.000 (€ 3.914.758).
