Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Evening Auction, which included the work Rackstraw and Pamela by Alex Katz. The price achieved of USD 2,470,000.00 (€ 2,301,742.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Other works by Alex Katz have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in October 2019 the work Blue Umbrella I was auctioned for GBP 3,375,000.00 (€ 3,914,757.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rackstraw and Pamela von Alex Katz zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.470.000,00 (€ 2.301.742,61) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.000.000,00 – 3.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Andere Arbeiten von Alex Katz konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Oktober 2019 die Arbeit Blue Umbrella I für GBP 3.375.000,00 (€ 3.914.757,96) versteigert.
