Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Andy Warhol could be acquired at Christies in London in July last year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, London auction, the work Dollar Sign changed hands for GBP 350,000.00 (€ 417,962.16) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andy Warhol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shot Sage Blue Marilyn in May last year with an auction result of USD 195,040,000.00 (€ 181,753,797.41).
