Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Figure de l’homme qui marche, taille originale dite aussi moyen modèle by Auguste Rodin was auctioned at Christies in New York in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 214,200.00 (€ 207,497.82). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Auguste Rodin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'Éternel Printemps in May 2016 with an auction result of USD 20,410,000.00 (€ 18,329,591.38).
