Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Etude Pour Le "Portrait De Claude Hersaint" - 1948 by Balthus was auctioned at Artcurial in Paris in December 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,820.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Balthus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thérèse Sur Une Banquette in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 19,002,500.00 (€ 17,044,129.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Etude Pour Le "Portrait De Claude Hersaint" - 1948 von Balthus im Dezember 2021 bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.820,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Balthus erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Thérèse Sur Une Banquette im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.002.500,00 (€ 17.044.129,52).
