Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Leslie by Chuck Close was sold in the Contemporary Edition auction at Christies in New York in March last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,048.00 (€ 5,452.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chuck Close achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gwynne in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 2,807,500.00 (€ 2,298,027.34).
