Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Phil (Spiral) by Chuck Close. The price achieved of USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,200.75) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chuck Close achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gwynne in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 2,807,500.00 (€ 2,298,027.34).
