Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction The Macklowe Collection, which included this untitled work by Cy Twombly. Here, the upper estimate of USD 4,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 4,164,000.00 (€ 3,880,346.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cy Twombly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (New York City) in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 70,530,000.00 (€ 66,777,125.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion The Macklowe Collection durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Cy Twombly zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 4.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 4.164.000,00 (€ 3.880.346,66) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Cy Twombly erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (New York City) im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.530.000,00 (€ 66.777.125,54).
