Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work A Lot More of Ann Combing Her Hair (Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo 216) by David Hockney. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 9,566.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
