Upper estimate price exceeded by 54 %.
The work Amaryllis in Vase (Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo 266) by David Hockney was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Sothebys in New York in April last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 138,600.00 (€ 131,536.49), 54% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
