This artwork by David Hockney achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in October 2021. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work Celia Inquiring (G. 835, M.C.A.T. 223) sold for USD 27,720.00 (€ 23,995.84) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
