The work Contrejour in the French Style (Scottish Arts Council 167; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo 153) by David Hockney was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April last year. It achieved a price of USD 88,200.00 (€ 83,705.04), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 47%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve.
