Upper estimate price exceeded by 62 %.
In April last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Tulips (Scottish Arts Council 158; Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo 142) by David Hockney. The »bidding war« ended at USD 56,700.00 (€ 53,810.38), 62% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hockney achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nichols Canyon in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 41,067,500.00 (€ 33,579,313.16).
