Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Evening Auction, which included the work Cold Beer Beautiful Girls by Ed Ruscha. It changed hands for a price of USD 18,823,400.00 (€ 17,541,142.48) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000,000.00 – 20,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ed Ruscha - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hurting the Word Radio #2, which sold at auction in November 2019 for USD 52,485,000.00 (€ 47,631,364.01).
