Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Peaks of Tioga by Edgar Alwin Payne was sold in the California Art auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,562.50 (€ 69,120.76) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edgar Alwin Payne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Red Mesa, Monument Valley, Utah, which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 289,000.00 (€ 185,637.20).
