The work Wade in the Water by El Anatsui was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in London in March last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,154,250.00 (€ 1,368,493.28), 36% above the upper estimate. Other works by El Anatsui have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34) in May this year for the work Prophet.

Die Arbeit Wade in the Water von El Anatsui wurde im März letzten Jahres in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.154.250,00 (€ 1.368.493,28) und damit 36% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui haben noch höhere Preise erzielt - wir haben das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34) im Mai diesen Jahres für die Arbeit Prophet beobachtet.
