Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Ludwig II Caresses Marie Antoinette by Elizabeth Peyton. It changed hands for a price of USD 88,200.00 (€ 82,191.78) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elizabeth Peyton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Liam + Noel in the 70’s in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,070,000.00 (€ 1,833,968.28).
