Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work Study for Bullfight No 1 (S. 10, T. 2) by Francis Bacon. The price achieved of USD 56,700.00 (€ 53,810.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Bacon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Three Studies Of Lucian Freud in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 142,405,000.00 (€ 104,663,383.80).
