Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Frank Stella achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May last year. In the Contemporary Day Auction auction, the work Untitled (Study for MoMa Poster) sold for USD 1,184,400.00 (€ 1,103,718.20) - well above the upper estimate of USD 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Frank Stella achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Point Of Pines in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 28,082,500.00 (€ 25,188,357.70).
