The work Hommage à Jean-Sébastien Bach by Georges Mathieu was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in November last year. It achieved a price of HKD 138,600.00 (€ 17,199.13), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 73%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georges Mathieu achieve.
