Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Madonna at Prayer by Giovanni Battista Salvi was sold in the Old Masters Day Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2016. It changed hands for a price of GBP 47,500.00 (€ 55,535.21) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Admittedly, works by Giovanni Battista Salvi have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Madonna and Child embracing in an interior, a landscape with Saint Joseph beyond in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 433,250.00 (€ 551,844.05).

Die Arbeit The Madonna at Prayer von Giovanni Battista Salvi wurde im Dezember 2016 in der Auktion Old Masters Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 47.500,00 (€ 55.535,21) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Giovanni Battista Salvi auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Madonna and Child embracing in an interior, a landscape with Saint Joseph beyond im Juli 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 433.250,00 (€ 551.844,05).
