This artwork by Henri Matisse achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May last year. In the Impressionist and Modern Works on Paper and Day Sale auction, the work Vase Louis Philippe et anémones sold for USD 119,700.00 (€ 111,545.99) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).
