Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Guggenheim Museum, New York, 1997 by Hiroshi Sugimoto was sold in the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Christies in London in October last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,743.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hiroshi Sugimoto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,888,000.00 (€ 1,403,404.45).
