Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work Prairies dans la Sarthe by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 44,100.00 (€ 41,095.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Baptiste Camille Corot achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venise, vue du Quai des Esclavons in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,009,844.00 (€ 7,720,517.57).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Prairies dans la Sarthe von Jean Baptiste Camille Corot zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 44.100,00 (€ 41.095,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Baptiste Camille Corot erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Venise, vue du Quai des Esclavons im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.009.844,00 (€ 7.720.517,57).
