Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work (i) Tracés rectilignes(ii) Cosmographie by Jean Dubuffet was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 252.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Dubuffet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Paris Polka in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 24,805,000.00 (€ 22,562,306.71).
