Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Jean-Michel Basquiat was sold in the PROUVÉ x BASQUIAT: Art and Design from the Collection of Peter M. Brant and Stephanie Seymour auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000,000.00 – 4,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,166,000.00 (€ 2,797,314.01) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean-Michel Basquiat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 110,487,500.00 (€ 98,333,481.67).

Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Jean-Michel Basquiat wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion PROUVÉ x BASQUIAT: Art and Design from the Collection of Peter M. Brant and Stephanie Seymour bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000.000,00 – 4.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.166.000,00 (€ 2.797.314,01) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean-Michel Basquiat erzielen.
