This artwork by Joan Mitchell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in November 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale auction, the work without title sold for USD 11,870,000.00 (€ 10,516,523.43) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Joan Mitchell - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in November this year for USD 29,160,000.00 (€ 26,732,673.27).
