This artwork by Joel Mesler achieved an unexpectedly high price at POLY in Hong Kong in June 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in association with Phillips auction, the work Untitled (Tony Chang Goes to Hollywood) sold for HKD 1,638,000.00 (€ 177,929.27) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 600,000.00. Admittedly, works by Joel Mesler have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work To Life in May last year with an auction result of USD 907,200.00 (€ 845,401.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joel Mesler erzielte im Juni 2021 bei POLY in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in association with Phillips wurde die Arbeit Untitled (Tony Chang Goes to Hollywood) für HKD 1.638.000,00 (€ 177.929,27) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 600.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joel Mesler auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit To Life im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 907.200,00 (€ 845.401,17).
