Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Joel Shapiro could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Prints & Multiples auction, the work Untitled (Red Square/With Blue); and Untitled (Blue Square/With Green) changed hands for USD 1,386.00 (€ 1,180.28) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joel Shapiro achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in March 2016 with an auction result of USD 701,000.00 (€ 615,452.15).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Joel Shapiro konnte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Prints & Multiples wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (Red Square/With Blue); and Untitled (Blue Square/With Green) für USD 1.386,00 (€ 1.180,28) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joel Shapiro erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im März 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 701.000,00 (€ 615.452,15).
