Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work A Bit of Jordan’s Delight, Maine by John Marin was worth USD 107,100.00 (€ 87,571.55) to a buyer in December 2020. This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 35,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Marin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lobster Boat, Cape Split, Maine in April this year with an auction result of USD 1,925,500.00 (€ 1,744,112.32).
