Upper estimate price exceeded by 46 %.
In April 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Woolworth Building (The Dance) by John Marin. The »bidding war« ended at USD 87,500.00 (€ 72,734.83), 46% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Marin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lobster Boat, Cape Split, Maine in April this year with an auction result of USD 1,925,500.00 (€ 1,744,112.32).
