This artwork by Josef Albers achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October last year. In the Prints and Multiples auction, the work Ek Ig, From Homage To The Square: Edition Keller sold for USD 12,600.00 (€ 12,683.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Homage to the Square in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,954,000.00 (€ 2,772,667.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 80 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Josef Albers erzielte im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Prints and Multiples wurde die Arbeit Ek Ig, From Homage To The Square: Edition Keller für USD 12.600,00 (€ 12.683,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 7.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Josef Albers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Homage to the Square im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.954.000,00 (€ 2.772.667,54).
