Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work WLS I, from White Line Squares (Series I) by Josef Albers was sold in the Prints & Multiples auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,120.00 (€ 6,255.75), 22% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Homage to the Square in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,954,000.00 (€ 2,772,667.54).
