In September last year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work WLS IV, from White Line Squares (Series I) by Josef Albers. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,287.50 (€ 8,471.33), 66% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Albers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Homage to the Square in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,954,000.00 (€ 2,772,667.54).
