Flocking adhesive screenprinted on 3mm white Plexiglas acrylic, with hand-flocked black nylon, in three panels.

Signed in black felt-tip pen and numbered 2/30 (printed) on a label affixed to the reverse of the head (left) panel (there were also 7 artist's proofs), published by Alan Cristea Gallery, London, each panel contained in the original matte black aluminium frame specified by the artist.

This artwork by Julian Opie achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in June last year. In the Evening & Day Editions auction, the work This is Shahnoza in 3 parts (6) (C. 132) sold for GBP 37,800.00 (€ 43,912.85) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Julian Opie have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Walking in London in the rain in June last year with an auction result of CHF 189,000.00 (€ 189,036.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Julian Opie erzielte im Juni letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Evening & Day Editions wurde die Arbeit This is Shahnoza in 3 parts (6) (C. 132) für GBP 37.800,00 (€ 43.912,85) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Julian Opie auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Walking in London in the rain im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 189.000,00 (€ 189.036,11).
