Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Femme au fauteuil by Louis Valtat was auctioned at Christies in New York in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 37,800.00 (€ 35,225.05). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Valtat achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Madame Valtat et son fils in May 2008 with an auction result of EUR 726,650.00.
