Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Louise Bourgeois achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in April last year. In the Editions & Works on Paper auction, the work What is the Shape of This Problem (MoMA 658-667) sold for USD 85,680.00 (€ 81,313.47) - well above the upper estimate of USD 40,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louise Bourgeois achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spider in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 32,055,000.00 (€ 28,751,457.53).
