Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price

The work Le peintre et son nu à la fenêtre by Marc Chagall was worth HKD 1,386,000.00 (€ 166,091.98) to a buyer in December last year. This price was achieved in the auction Marc Chagall, Colour of Life:Works Formerly from the Artist's Estate (Part II) at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 360,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marc Chagall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les Amoureux in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 28,453,000.00 (€ 23,914,103.21).

Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Marc Chagall, Colour of Life:Works Formerly from the Artist's Estate (Part II) bei Christies in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 360.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marc Chagall erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Les Amoureux im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 28.453.000,00 (€ 23.914.103,21).
