Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Piccolo Cavaliere (Small Rider) by Marino Marini was auctioned at Sothebys in London in June last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 252,000.00 (€ 292,752.32). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marino Marini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work L'Idea Del Cavaliere in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 7,040,000.00 (€ 5,233,033.52).
