Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Route tournante en sous-bois by Paul Cézanne was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 403,200.00 (€ 375,733.86) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Cézanne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Montagne Sainte-Victoire in November last year with an auction result of USD 137,790,000.00 (€ 133,478,639.93).
