Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Phillips in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work Last of the "100 lbers" (100 lbs ivory/side) by Peter Beard. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 25,200.00 (€ 29,201.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Beard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orphaned Cheetah Cubs, Mweiga, near Nyeri, Kenya, March 1968 in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 672,500.00 (€ 577,352.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Last of the "100 lbers" (100 lbs ivory/side) von Peter Beard zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 25.200,00 (€ 29.201,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Beard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Orphaned Cheetah Cubs, Mweiga, near Nyeri, Kenya, March 1968 im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 672.500,00 (€ 577.352,34).
