Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Sothebys in Paris held the auction Oeuvres sur Papier, which included the work Study For A Composition (Etude Pour Une Composition) by Piet Mondrian. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 32,500.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet Mondrian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 50,565,000.00 (€ 45,993,269.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Sothebys in Paris die Auktion Oeuvres sur Papier durch, in der auch die Arbeit Study For A Composition (Etude Pour Une Composition) von Piet Mondrian zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 32.500,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Piet Mondrian erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Composition No. III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, 1929 im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.565.000,00 (€ 45.993.269,06).
