Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April last year Sothebys in Paris held the auction Collection Loïc Malle: Only Time Will Tell, which included the work Self Portrait laying on Jack Johnson’s Grave by Rashid Johnson. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 12,600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rashid Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surrender Painting "Sunshine" in November last year with an auction result of USD 3,000,000.00 (€ 2,906,131.94).
