Upper estimate price exceeded by 69 %.
In June last year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work Blue with Red by Richard Diebenkorn. The »bidding war« ended at USD 50,775.00 (€ 48,500.33), 69% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Diebenkorn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Recollections of a Visit to Leningrad in November this year with an auction result of USD 46,410,000.00 (€ 42,546,754.68).
