Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Prints & Multiples: Part II, which included the work Afternoon by Richard Lindner. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,638.00 (€ 1,361.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Lindner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Stranger N°1 - 1958 in December 2016 with an auction result of EUR 802,600.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Important Prints & Multiples: Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Afternoon von Richard Lindner zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.638,00 (€ 1.361,60) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Lindner erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Stranger N°1 - 1958 im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 802.600,00.
