Auction result well in line with expectations
In October last year Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Apollo, 1988 by Robert Mapplethorpe. The price achieved of USD 20,160.00 (€ 20,293.94) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mapplethorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).
