ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Sunrise, from 7 Objects in a Box baked enamel on steel multiple, 1965, signed in blue felt-tip pen on the reverse, numbered '38' (the edition was 75 plus 25 artist's proofs), published by Tanglewood Press, Inc., New York, 1966, in good condition, framed Overall: 8 1 ⁄ 2 x 11 x 1 in. (216 x 279 x 25 mm.)
Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Roy Lichtenstein achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November last year. In the A Graphic Century including French Impressions: Prints from Ambroise Vollard and Henri M. Petiet auction, the work Sunrise, from 7 Objects in a Box sold for USD 32,760.00 (€ 31,734.96) - well above the upper estimate of USD 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Roy Lichtenstein achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nurse in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 95,365,000.00 (€ 90,290,664.65).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Roy Lichtenstein erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion A Graphic Century including French Impressions: Prints from Ambroise Vollard and Henri M. Petiet wurde die Arbeit Sunrise, from 7 Objects in a Box für USD 32.760,00 (€ 31.734,96) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Roy Lichtenstein erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nurse im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 95.365.000,00 (€ 90.290.664,65).
