Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Étude pour une toile de fond pour Tristan Fou (Acte I) by Salvador Dalí was sold in the Modern Evening Auction auction at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The price achieved of USD 925,000.00 (€ 861,988.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Salvador Dalí achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait De Paul Éluard in February 2011 with an auction result of GBP 13,481,250.00 (€ 15,879,784.58).
