Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March last year Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Curated, which included the work Ribboned II by Sam Gilliam. Here, the upper estimate of USD 250,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 252,000.00 (€ 227,170.29). Admittedly, works by Sam Gilliam have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lady Day II in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 2,172,500.00 (€ 1,918,661.13).
