Upper estimate price exceeded by 42 %.
In May last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples, which included the work Scribble Version of Still Life #58 by Tom Wesselmann. The »bidding war« ended at USD 12,750.00 (€ 11,881.46), 42% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Tom Wesselmann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Great American Nude No. 48 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 10,681,000.00 (€ 6,864,395.89).
